For all students in
Grades 2-6: Ellwood School has award-winning typing software,
Type to Learn 4: Agents of Information, and you can install this same
program FREE on your home computer. Our school has purchased the
web version of this software that allows for both home and school
instruction and practice. Keyboarding is one of the most
important technology skills your student will learn at Ellwood.
Studies have correlated improvement in keyboarding skills with
greater gains in reading comprehension, vocabulary, word study skills
and spelling skills.
For more information and to download the FULL VERSION, go to ttl4.sunburst.com/downloads (scroll to the bottom of the page for the full versions). Downloads will take up to 30 minutes, depending on your internet speed. Student user names are generally in the form of "first name first letter of last name" (example: joanb). In some cases, the first 2 letters of the last name are needed (example: joanba). Password is "123" for everyone. Account code for our school is "110543". The account code only needs to be typed in once.To use the program, the student selects the lesson to resume their work (starting at lesson 1) and clicks on "Begin" and work on the lesson, keeping their hands in correct keyboard position (no hunt and peck typing, please)! When they pass lesson 1, they can play any of the games below (like Big Ideas and Dig This). Students must take the Final Challenge at the bottom before they are allowed to continue on to Lesson 2. (The "Next" button will be grayed out until they pass the final challenge.) More questions? Email Joan Barnett, the Ellwood Computer Specialist. |
